The Blues of Music, an Answer to the Blues of Life!

The complete 19th and 20th century were swept and engulfed in revolution around the world, not peculiarly marked with guns, tanks or any other annihilating movements. But mostly, marked with the rebellious morals, that asserted sovereign ideas and upbringing of new art and aesthetics.

Blues, both a musical form and musical genre is chiseled out of the secular folk music, by the African-Americans  in the early 20th century. Blued, originally comes from south but since its inception it has influenced and motivated the expressive forms of music. Blues had become by the1960s one of the most important influences on the development of popular music throughout the United States and still prevails.

The African influences are apparent in the blues tonality, the response and the pattern, repeated refrain structure of the blues stanza, the falsetto break in the vocal style, and the stroking imitation of vocal idioms by instruments, especially the guitar and harmonica.

Though  the origin of the blues is poorly documented it was developed in the southern United States after the American Civil War (1861–65). It was influenced by work songs and field hollers. It was 19th century which marked some of the tremendous singers and eventually legends in the world Music scene.
W.C. Handy’s (1912), composed “Memphis Blues”  which became hugely popular, and thereafter the scene was flooded by fine singers. BB king, Robert Johnson, John Dawson "Johnny" Winter, Memphis Minnie McCoy-Lawler, Jimmy Rogers and many other achieved the exemplary might in producing some of the finest blues music.

The Time ruled by the Revolution called, Music!

Music has the power to stop, exhilarate, heal, hurt, bring back memories and most important it has the power to connect. It started with a small, sweet acoustic guitar and some incredibly inclusive lyrics that shifted dynamics of America in 1960s "Come gather 'round people wherever you roam / And admit that the waters around you have grown," Bob Dylan's folk anthem "The Times They Are A-Changin'" became the ultimate and rebellious song of that time. It is when people realized the power of music. How it could connect and speak for everyone on the same time.
It was the beginning of a new era, era that as marked by legendary singers and bands such as Beatles, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and other iconic folk and rock artists in 60's whose lyrics and songs.
were popularly used in protests, in support of the social-change-to-come of the decade.

The protest songs though were not limited to a single topic and era. It was in 1990's, feminist D.I.Y. musician Kathleen Hanna led punk band Bikini Kill and the Riot Grrrl movement against the patriarchy. The leading leading, Hanna worked closely with D.C. hardcore legend Ian MacKaye, who was better known to have fronted a threat with his egendary band Fugazi in the '80s and '90s against capitalism.
Their music influenced people and a commonality of thoughts prevailed giving people a sense of society. Soul spoken-word poet and musician Gil Scott-Heron's single "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised," as well as his record of the same name, honestly spoke of the racial divide in America in the '70s.
And while labeling these diverse songs under "protest" may seem reductive, it highlights the ability of music to connect artists, listeners and ideas to discuss and drive the issues in — or not in — society's consciousness. Long live the spirit of producing revolutionizing Music!

Bob Dylan: He lived the Dream, called Rock!

You would hardly find anything that has not been written under and for the name Bob Dylan.
The generations have known him as one of the most influential Rock idol of his times. Dylan will be remembered as a legend for his work which he did as a singer-songwriter,record producer, artist, writer, poet, film director, screenwriter, and painter. He dominated the rock music scene of his time and remained to be the most influential figure in popular music and culture for more than five decades.
It was Dylan's music that spread and influenced  the landscape of  US Civil Rights and Anti war Movements. His tracks namely, "Blowin' in the Wind" and "The Times They Are Changin'", became anthems for the teens and enthralled the rock music stage. It is believed that it was his single 'Like A rolling Stone' that completely altered the music scenario and what Dylan was.

Dylan was a compelling lyricists who incorporated a variety of  influences into his music. He defied the prevalent pop music convention and accepted to take a route less traveled. His songs was then a contemporary mix of  powerful music and social, political,  philosophical, biblical, and literary thought process.

Every song he wrote  is believed to fit into the mood Dylan wanted to create, within the musical palette he wanted to use, and with the same general lyrical conceits he worked on his albums.

Furthermore, Dylan is profoundly known for the powerful imagery of society, life, friends, relationship, nation that he brought out from the content, the meaning of the lines and the verses, he wrote. He captured the essence and music and set the mood for the spirit of the times from about 1960 and still followed actively.

what he said, and to be honest, who he said it to, and when he said it, makes his words resonate so deeply even today in  hearts and minds.

WHY IS MUSIC OUR PRISTINE CREATION!

A lot has been written and said about Music already, but there is hardly anything more tempting than the calculated and sometimes free handout swift strokes on the grand piano or a flute. No one really is unaware of the mystical bewitching depths of the Music that can unwind, make you fall in love, set you free or can pull you out of all your worries.

Victor Hugo a French poet, playwright, novelist, essayist, visual artist, statesman, human rights campaigner, and perhaps the most influential exponent of the Romantic Movement in France once said “Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.”

A strange thing that makes music even more special is its definition and nature—everywhere people are playing and listening to meaningless tonal patterns, and still remain occupied and preoccupied for almost entire life, what they call ‘music.’
Music evolved as an enormous form self expression which further become an intrinsic part of cultures and further more grew to become a culture itself. Music is emancipation of free will and that moves beyond boundaries, heart to heart connecting humans with the delicate notes and powerful meaning.

The philosophers intended to evaluate and fathom into this so-called ‘music,’ and found it even more interesting when they did so. Where on one hand they said is in some way efficacious to humans and is free from a certain defined concepts, and makes no propositions; it lacks images, symbols, and the burden of language. It has no power of representation but great power of self expression it is both feeble and strong on the same time. It has no relation to the world. And on the other hand few explained ‘We listen to music with our muscles.’ It is evident in all of us—we tap our feet, we ‘keep time’, hum, sing along or ‘conduct’ music, our facial expressions mirroring the rises and falls, the melodic contours and feelings of what we are hearing. Yet all this may occur without our knowledge or volition.

Every aspect of music contributed to make it a more emphatic and like Nicholas Sparks said “If conversation was the lyrics, laughter was the music; making time spent together a melody that could be replayed over and over without getting stale.”
than world would turn into a musical abode.
